Blood Moon Ritual
By Yasmine Galenorn

In preparation for the winter, for the introspective time of the year,
we seek to clean out the old. This month, we focus on cleansing our
spiritual spaces for the darker days.

The first step is to collect all remnants of old spell workings and
discard them in a proper manner. The, thoroughly clean all of your
ritual tools (while your at it, dust and organize your living space,
too), and wash your ritual clothes. Smudge your sacred and living
spaces with sage or cedar, and invoke the deities with whom you share
your life. Allow the energy to settle around you as you focus on
the coming months. We are entering into a time of thought, of cerebral
activity. For some, school awaits, for others, the winter months are
those spent cooped up inside to avoid inclement weather.

Now is a good time to take stock of your goals and to plan ahead for
the approaching winter. What do you want to accomplish?

Blood Moon affirmation: “My mind is alert, I observe with keen sight.”

Drawing Down the Moon Ritual
From Goddess Spirituality by Fiona Morgan

This can be done as a private ritual with yourself.
Ms. Morgan says she prefers to be outside, under the
full moon. But, if that is not possible, it can also
be done inside, sitting, standing or facing a window,
with the moon’s rays shining in upon you.

Start by chanting “Ma,” Yemaya,” or “Luna” for five or
ten minutes, to raise energy for drawing down the moon.
Then, position your hands with palms facing the moon,
index fingers and thumbs touching, forming the sacred
triangle, or the sign of the yoni. Spread your fingers
as wide as possible, so that they are receptors for moon
energy. After you chant to raise power, focus all your
energy and vision on Mother Moon and draw her energy down
into your body. Move your hands, if desired, back and
forth, from arms outstretched to your heart, and back
again. After a few minutes of holding your hands to the
moon, you can feel them tingle. This is magickal energy.
It usually takes 15 – 20 minutes to draw the moon’s energy
into you, but there is no set time. It may take you less
time, or even longer. Here are two chants you can use, if
you would like:

“Yemaya, O Lo Do, Agua Lo Do Mi O” (repeat over and over again).
And
“Moon, Moon, Moon on my mind, think I’ll fly” (repeat over and over again).

Mourning Moon Ritual
By Yasmine Galenorn

This is a time for reconnecting with our roots so that
we may be strong throughout the winter months. Lay a
black cloth on your altar. Decorate with autumn leave,
gourds, orange candles, a mirror, a plate of cookies, a
bottle of port wine (or grape juice), and pictures of your
ancestors, beloved pets who have crossed over, and anyone
else you may care to remember, that has passed on.

On the night of the full moon, cast a circle and light the
candles, then, invoke your favorite deities. Focus on each
picture, thinking about how that being has touched your life,
in ways both bad and good. Give thanks for the lessons and
joys that each being taught you. Toast them and, when you
are done, leave the wine (or juice) and cookies on the altar
for them to feast upon. In the morning, leave the food and
drink in a sacred spot for the earth to reclaim.

Mourning Moon affirmation: “I learn and grow from the past.”

November New Moon Ritual

Needed:

Lavender-colored candle
Eucalyptus and Patchouli oils
Sandalwood incense
Nutmeg (powdered, or 2 whole nutmegs)

During the dark of the night, anoint the candle with your
oils in a counter-clockwise direction, and, then, repeat
in a clockwise direction.

Place the candle on your altar. A black candle holder is
nice, but not necessary. Tell the moon that you dedicate
this candle and this ritual to her.

Either sprinkle the nutmeg around the candle in a counter-clockwise
direction, or lay the nutmegs on the left and right of the candle,
in that order.

Light the candle and concentrate on the New Moon bringing you the
courage and energy to know what is right and what is wrong for you.

Light the incense with the candle’s flame, and ask that your
thoughts be carried to the moon on its smoke.

While the incense is burning, meditate on knowing and doing
the right thing for the highest good.

Clap out the candle and relight it every night for 7 days, and
review your actions and thoughts of the day, each night, with
some new incense.

If you used whole nutmegs, carry them with you, at the end of the
7 days, in a mojo or medicine bag, otherwise, blow the nutmeg from
your altar to the winds.
