Full Moon Ritual
By Ann Mouri
Preparing your altar:
Candle colors are blue, white and orange, or green, white and red.
Incense can be bay, sandalwood or frankincense. Have any spell work
materials ready and laid out on the altar, as well.
Prepare yourself and your space:
Sweep the circle area, lay out any circle and altar items, bathe, and
dress in your ritual robes. Light the incense and candles.
Cast your circle and call the elements: Do this in which ever manner
you are most comfortable with.
Pick up your chalice of wine. Pour a libation to the Divine, into your
cauldron or libation dish, and then take a sip for yourself.
Ring the bell three times, raise your wand in greeting, and say,
“I, _______, who am your child, stand between the worlds and call upon
my Lady and my Lord, _______, to hold communion with me.”
Ring the bell three times, and say,
“I acknowledge that what I send returns to me and conduct my Craft
accordingly. Once more I affirm my joy of life and union with the Lady
and the Lord. I honor the God and the Goddess, _______, for the favors
they have bestowed upon me.”
Set the salted water onto a pentacle, hold the athame over it, and say,
“Great Mother, bless this creature of water and of earth to your service.
May I always remember the cauldron of waters of rebirth and the many forms
and beings of the blessed earth. Of water and earth am I.”
Hold the water aloft, and say,
“Great Mother, I honor you!”
Place the water back in its place on the altar, place the censer onto the
pentacle, hold the athame over it, and say,
“Great Father, bless this creature of fire and air to your service. May
I always remember the sacred fire that dances within every creature and
hear the voices of the Divine. Of fire and air am I.”
Raise the censer aloft, and say,
“Great Father, I honor you!”
Return the censer to its place on the altar, raise the chalice of wine aloft,
and say,
“Power and grace; beauty and strength are in the Lady and the Lord both.
Patience and love, wisdom and knowledge. I honor you both!”
Pour a libation into your cauldron or libation dish, and then take a sip.
Stand at the altar, facing north, with arms spread and upraised, and your
feet spread apart, and say,
“Behold the Great Lady, who travels the sky; the stars shine around her and
light up the night.”
Pick up the wand, and say,
“Lovely Lady known by so many names, but known to me as _______, with (God’s
name) at your side, honor and reverence I give to you and invite you to join
with me on this, your special night. Descend my Lady, and speak with your
child, who you have named _______.”
At this time the Goddess may say something pertinent to you, or give you needed
guidance on a matter that concerns you.
Place the wand back on the altar.
You may now perform any spellwork, divinations, consecrations, etc. that you had
planned for this occasion. I f you are working with others, change “I” to “We”
and allow them to sip from the chalice after you have poured the libation.
Close with the Cakes and Wine Ceremony.

Cakes & Ale Ceremony
Begin by saying:
“Now it is time for me to give thanks to the gods for that which
sustains me. May I ever be aware of all I owe to the gods.”
Take up your goblet in your left hand, and your athame in your right.
Slowly lower the point of the athame into the wine, saying:
“In like fashion may male join with female, for the happiness of both.
Let the fruits of union promote life. Let all be fruitful and let wealth
be spread throughout all lands.”
Lay down your athame and drink from the goblet. Replace the goblet on
your altar, then touch the cake with the point of your athame, saying:
“This food is the blessing of the gods to my body. I partake of it freely.
Let me remember always to see to it that aught that I have I share with
those who have nothing.”
Eat the cake, pausing to say:
“As I enjoy these gifts of the gods, let me remember that without the gods
I would have nothing. So mote it be!”

Cakes & Wine Ceremony
(a.k.a. Cakes & Ale Ceremony)
By Ann Mouri
Ring the bell three times. With your feet spread and arms upraised, say,
“I acknowledge my needs and offer my appreciation to that which sustains me!
May I ever remember the blessings of my Lady and my Lord.”
Pull your feet together, pick up your chalice in your left hand, and your
athame in your right. Slowly lower the athame into the wine (or ale).
Then say,
“As male joins female for the benefit of both, let the fruits of their
union promote life. Let the earth be fruitful and let her wealth be
spread throughout all lands.”
Lay down the athame and drink from the chalice. Replace the chalice onto
the altar and pick up the athame, again. Tough the tip of the athame to
the cake in the offering dish.
Then say,
“This food is the blessing of the Lady and the Lord given freely to me.
As freely as I have received, may I also give food for the body, mind and
spirit to those who seek such of me.”
Eat the cake, finish the wine (or ale).
Then say,
“As I enjoy these gifts of the Goddess and the God, _______, may I remember
that without them I would have nothing. So mote it be!”
When you’ve finished, hold our athame in your right hand, level over the altar,
Then say,
“Lord and Lady, I am blessed by your sharing this time with me, watching and
guarding me, and guiding me here and in all things. I came in love and I
depart in love.”
Raise the athame in salute.
Then say,
“Love is the law and love is the bond. Merry did I meet, merry do I part,
and merry will I meet again. Merry meet, merry part, merry meet again! The
circle is now cleared. So mote it be!”
Kiss the flat of the blade and set it back on the altar. Pick up your candle
snuffer and go to the North quarter, raise up your arms.
Then say,
“Depart in peace, Elemental Earth. My blessings take with you!”
Lower your arms and snuff out the candle, envisioning the Elemental Power that
you summoned now departing. Go the East, raise up your arms.
Then say,
“Depart in peace, Elemental Air. My blessings take with you!”
Lower your arms and snuff out the candle, envisioning the Elemental Power that
you summoned now departing. Go the South, raise up your arms.
Then say,
“Depart in peace, Elemental Fire. My blessings take with you!”
Lower your arms and snuff out the candle, envisioning the Elemental Power that
you summoned now departing. Go the West, raise up your arms.
Then say,
“Depart in peace, Elemental Water. My blessings take with you!”
Lower your arms and snuff out the candle, envisioning the Elemental Power that
you summoned now departing. Return to the altar and replace the snuffer.
Raise up your arms.
Then say,
“Beings and powers of the visible and invisible, depart in peace! You aid
in my work, whisper in my mind and bless me from the Otherworld, and there
is harmony between us. My blessings take with you. The circle is cleared.”
Pick up your athame, go to the North, with the tip of the athame pointing down,
and move counterclockwise around the circle, making a complete round from North,
back to North, envisioning the athame drawing the blue light back into it,
While saying,
“The circle is open yet the circle remains as its magickal power is drawn back into me.”
When you return to the North, touch the athame to your forehead and envision the
blue light swirling around and back into you. Return to your altar.
Then say,
“The ceremony is ended. Blessings have been given and blessings have been received,
may the peace of the Goddess and the God remain in my heart. So mote it be!”
Replace the athame on the altar.
Put away all of your magickal tools and clear the altar, except for the candles or
any objects that need to burn down or work for a slated period of time. The liquid
in the cauldron or libation dish is either poured into the earth or into a potted plant.
