Fire Jump Spell
If you do this rituals with others,
it will intensify the spell's power.
Light a fire – any size that you’re comfortable jumping over
(even a candle will do), then spend a few moments going into
alpha, and shifting your consciousness into the purifying and
strengthening powers of fire. When you have become fire, begin
to dance around the fire, reciting this chant:
“Fire, fire, burning bright
Strengthen me this very night.
To love my love awake, asleep.
I run to her/him, I fly, I leap!”
Repeat the chant and continue dancing until the energy builds up.
When it “feels” right, time your last verse so that you jump over
the fire on the words “I leap!” If several people are doing the
spell, designate a dance master to decide when the energy has built
to leaping level. He or she should leap first. Each following person
then recites only the last two lines of the chant before they leap.

The Demeter-Kore Lovers
For lesbian couples to learn to appreciate the differences
between them, and to learn to defer to each other’s strengths
and support each other in their times of weakness.
Looking for brood trends, each woman should be able to assign “Mother”
or “Daughter” qualities to herself and her partner.
Demeter’s traits: being more dependent, domestic, possessive, exclusive,
nurturing, being older, wiser, more experienced, educated, and physically larger.
Kore’s traits: being more independent, sociable, outgoing, needing more nurturing,
being younger and wilder, less experienced, less educated, and physically smaller.
Place a picture or sculpture of Demeter-Kore on an altar or in your bedroom,
as a commitment to honor and respect the differences in each other. View the
tension that arises in your relationship in terms of “mother-daughter” traits.
Let the mother-daughter paradigm provide a non-threatening vocabulary for
discussing ways to reconcile differences.
In a ritual similar to that in the Lover’s Branch Ritual use wheat, corn,
or other grains to represent Demeter, and pomegranates or narcissus for Kore.
Then, at the appropriate time in the ritual, say,
The “Kore” woman says:
“Mother of Earth, where love is born,
Strong in soil, root and thorn,
Protect the home and find the child
Through wandering paths that cross the wild.
Mother of Earth, of wheat and corn,
Your circle of love turns night to morn.”
The “Demeter” woman says:
“Daughter of Earth, may I learn
To love the ways of petal and fern,
The flowers that lure you over the field,
The gifts in which your heart is sealed.
Daughter of Earth, my heart will burn
For you, for us, for spring’s return.”
Memorize these verses and call them to mind when you need to renew your appreciation
of the differences between you and your lover.
