Talismans and Amulets of Protection
Following are some recipes for creating your own protective talisman or amulet.
There is also a list of herbs, crystals and other items traditionally used for protection,
should you prefer to create something more personalized.
Protection Potion Cabalistic Talisman
Cleansing and Charging Gemstones and Crytstals for Protection
Herbs, Crystals, and Other Items of Protection
Protection Potion
2 to 4 C spring water
1T powdered iron or iron shavings
1t vervain
2T sea salt
2T myrrh
2T frankincense
a pinch of wolf's hair from a live shedding wolf (ask a zookeeper)
Charge all ingredients and put them in an enamel or iron pot that's used
solely for brewing protection potion. Bring to a slow simmer. Go into
alpha and move your hands clockwise over the potion while saying, "I
charge this potion to protect me (and anyone I designate) from any
positive or negative powers that come to do me harm."
Keep the potion in a sealed bottle or jar.
When needed dab on both wrists, forehead and behind neck.
You can also dab it on car tires or doors, and on thewindows of your home.
Or pour some of the potion into a small vial and wear it around
your neck or in your pocket.

Cleansing and Charging Protective Gemstones & Crystals
Cleanse the stone of any stored energy by placing it in a bowl of salt,
in the ground, or on a window sill where it will receive the light of the full
moon, for at least 24 hours. Then hold the stone in your hand and charge it
with your enrgy and the job of protecting you.
Go into alpha and say something like:
Protective charm with energy bright,
Be my guardian while I'm out tonight.
or
Charm of stone and earth,
Guard my self, my home and hearth.
-chants from Edwin McCoy's A Witch's Guide to Faery Folk
Then place the stone in a black bag and wear it around you neck or in your pocket.

Cabalistic Talisman
Cut a piece of paper into a 2" square and fold it in half twice, making 4 sections.
In each of the sections, using black ink, write or draw symbols and words that make you
feel safe and protected. As with all talismans you need to focus and direct your energy
into the object for it to work. Roll the paper into a scroll and bind it with a piece of
black thread and wear it somewhere on your person.
